About

Sunrise Radio (Yorkshire) launched in December 1989 as Bradford City Radio. It was the first commercial South Asian British radio station to broadcast on the FM short-wave frequency. It broadcasts from studios in Bradford and is focused on content catering to Bradford’s diverse population, especially its South Asian communities.

Since 2016 it has been available on digital radio. It also broadcasts to east Lancashire, Leeds, Manchester and Milton Keynes. Throughout its history it has been involved in fundraising activities and hosted major cultural events. In 2014 it hosted an evening with Bollywood actor Bipasha Basu. It sponsored Manchester’s Mega Mela in 2014, an event which it has hosted several times since.
